Hello, my name is Angelika and I have the pleasure of interning at the Creative Department this week. I am a senior at Clark Montessori High School. I have the opportunity to intern as part of my school’s intersession courses, inspired by its Montessori style teaching.
Montessori education emphasizes practical, hands-on learning experiences, which it enforces through intersession courses, occurring in the Fall and Spring. During Fall Intersession, regular courses halt for two weeks and students take part in an intensive study course, generally on subject matter not taught in the traditional classroom. As a senior, I was required is to take part in a job internship in the field of my choice.
I’ve always been passionate about web design and development. I knew I wanted to intern with a like-minded company. Because one week is a really short time to intern with a company, I also wanted to work for a company that produced something I loved and was extremely relevant to me. I’m currently obsessed with Yagoot. On Yagoot’s website, the toppings are displayed with a rotating ring of goodness. The design was smart, simple and effective. I wanted to work for whoever built that site. With a simple Google search, I found the Creative Department. The Creative Department seemed like a perfect blend of web design and fun!
So far, I have tested websites that the Creative Department designed for consistency. Yesterday, I also sat in on a brainstorming session for a potential client. That was really interesting. The team drew inspiration by looking through magazines and interpreting them. What seemed like a simple exercise drew deeper themes and meanings, all essential to creating an awesome marketing campaign.
I love working at the Creative Department!! Everyone is so nice and super cool. It feels great to be part of a group of people that are passionate about their job and not afraid to have a little fun. I’m not sure what adventures the next few days will bring, but I’m looking forward to whatever the Creative Department has in store for me!
