Turn This Cup Up To 11

Mustaine's Peruvian Blend If there’s one thing I like, it’s a darn tut-in good ol’ cup of coffee, and thanks to a mention on VH1′s 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs, I might have found the perfect cup. When I learned that Dave Mustaine, the lead guitarist, songwriter, and singer for the heavy metal band Megadeth had his own blend of micro-roasted, organic, fair trade coffee, I had to try it for myself. With a steep price tag and even steeper shipping cost I was a little skeptical, but I pressed on in curiosity.

With several flavors to choose from, I had to get a second opinion, so why not get Dave Mustaine’s?

I found a contact email on the site and dashed off a quick challenge, “What’s Dave Mustaine’s personal favorite blend of coffee?”

To my gleeful surprise I received this:

Good Morning Laura,
I spoke with Dave and his favorite blend is Peruvian.
Enjoy,
Tammy Olson
Net Worth Coffee Brokers, Inc.

One freshly percolated pot later, I’m willing to say it was worth every penny of the $24.87 total cost including shipping. It was crisp and bold, and made me want to throw my fist up in metal horns of glory.

Well done, Dave. Even the packaging kept it real.

But don’t take my word for it, check out the office’s tasting notes in the comments below.

I thought there were only 99 ways to die. Now I know there are 100.

Even in my darkest hour, I have never had such a sweaty cup of coffee.

Coffee is Dave’s business, and business is good. A Powerful, tangy aroma with a smooth and rich taste. Keep brewin’.

But does it wake the dead?

  • Jacqui

It rocked me like no other cup of coffee has. And I drink a lot of coffee.

When the percolation stops the coffee rocks.

    To answer “Adam”:

YES! It does change lives! :)
The largest part of the proceeds from Net Worth Coffee Brokers is donated to Door of Faith Orphanage! (http://www.dofo.org/)

Dave Mustaine has expressed he and his wife’s desire to honor their Faith in Christ by helping the “widows and orphans” (Net Worth is Pam Mustaine’s company. Their daughter, Electra Mustaine, has her own line of cocoa, and Bill Goldberg, Charlie Benante, and Megan Hilty all have lines of coffe and tea dedicated to the same great purposes)!

The coffee is health conscious: Organic
It is socially conscious/responsible: Fair Trade
    It is quality controlled: Micro-Roasted

I’m so happy I stumbled onto this blog! This was a great post, and I’m stoked people are getting into the coffee!

    Warmest Wishes,
    Rachel

Only if we can come to an agreement on an age old question. Cream or sugar?

This coffee sells… and I’m definitely buying. Took one sip and it was a big, “hello me, meet the real me!” After one cup, I can tell you that there were no more clouds chokin’ out the morning sky. They said coffee like this would never come; I knew it was a lie.
